The Children’s Institute of Hong Kong Limited (TCI) was founded in 2003 as a service provider in the service of children and families with special needs. TCI was started by the parents of two children with special education needs. Today, TCI operates as a leader to the provision of applied behavior analysis special instruction for students with special eduction needs services in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). TCI has been granted charitable organization status under the Inland Revenue Department of the HKSAR.
TCI serves children and their families using evidence-based and state of the art treatments derived from the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). This is made possible, but not limited to the following three elements:
TCI provides services to many international schools to students with SEN. TCI's relationship to THS exemplifies this and illustrates how this positive working relationship can benefit an entire school community.
Professional staff are supervised in-house and trained in evidence- based teaching techniques by international full time Board Certified Behavior Analysts from the Behavior Analysis Certificaiton Board, Inc. (USA). TCI was first in Hong Kong to have BCBAs.
TCI improves the community through training and consultation services to local schools (Cantonese), work with professional organizations (Hong Kong Association for Behavior Analysis), and through guest lectures and research with local universities.
