About Us
The
Children's Institute of Hong Kong is the first School in Hong
Kong set up solely to educate children who fall within the Autistic
spectrum. Our goal is to provide a quality education for children
who can not learn in a mainstream environment as well to provide
academic and behavioral support for children who can learn in
a typical education setting.
TCI is a private, non profit school established
in 2003. We are dedicated to providing the best education and
intervention services for children with autism and their families.
Research-based teaching procedures and individualized
programs facilitate the development of skills across all curriculum
areas including academics, language, social, leisure, play, community,
vocational, domestic, work studies and self care. All skills are
systematically taught through highly structured one-to-one and
small group teaching sessions. Families are an integral part of
the students' programs. To ensure that the students' and their
families' needs are met beyond the school day, the Family Consultation
and Education Program includes:
-
monthly observation hours by family members
of their children during the school day at TCI
-
parent and helper education workshops
-
home visits by the TCI team to develop specific
skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs to increase
the quality of life of the child and the family,
-
assistance in referrals to community resources,
-
a daily communication book between the school
and home
Educational clinics are held with teachers, parents
and helpers to address any learning changes or concerns. This
helps to provide consistency between the home and school environments.
Here at The Children's Institute we have an open door policy.
Any parent or member of the community can come by and observe
the program and the work we are doing at any time. No appointment
is necessary. We encourage both parent and community involvement.
